  • When should I place my deposit for this trip?

I recommend placing your $400 deposit to secure your space on this trip as soon as possible as this intimate retreat is limited to 8 participants. Contact me to book your reservation: [email protected]

  • Where is the Aleenta Retreat and how and when do I get there?

You can fly to Chiang Mai Airport (CNX). The airport is just a 15 minute drive from our Aleenta Retreat. You can arrive October 20, although we recommend arriving one day before, on October 19. If you wish to extend your stay outside of the retreat dates, we can help book extra nights’ accommodation. If you arrive earlier than the 3pm check-in time, you are welcome to explore the pool area, the spa or the local shops. The hotel staff will hold your bags in a secure place while you rest by the pool or explore the fashionable streets of Chiang Mai. You can then get settled before we enjoy our first welcome dinner together that evening. Allow yourself to rest, work through the jet lag and experience the peace and harmony this special place has to offer us before diving into an incredible week of healing, exploring, connection and community. We ask that as soon as you book your flights to email your flight schedule to [email protected] so that we can help plan for a smooth arrival process.

  • Do I need to book my own flight to Chiang Mai, Thailand? What flights do I purchase?

You are responsible for booking your own flight. Please contact us before purchasing flights if you would like to share your schedule/plans and as always, travel insurance is strongly recommended. If you would like some help with flight recommendations, we are happy to assist you. We are not responsible for any change in scheduled flights.

  • Do I need vaccinations to travel to Thailand?

Currently, US and Canadian travelers to Thailand do not require proof of Covid vaccinations. It's best to review the CDC guidelines as many of the expectations for travel can change.

  • How many people are expected on this retreat?

Attendance is limited to a maximum of 8 participants. This special retreat is an opportunity to experience growth and transformation in a small group setting where we really focus on healing, connection, and community.

  • Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip?

Since most participants will be arriving from a different location at various times it is easiest for you to book a taxi upon your arrival at the airport. The taxi fee for the 15-minute drive to Aleenta Retreat is about 150 THB ($5 USD). It is very easy as there are many helpful and friendly taxis waiting.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

If you choose to cancel more than 60 days before the retreat start date, a 100% refund will be issued, less the $400 deposit. No refunds or credits are issued for cancellations received fewer than 60 days prior to the Retreat start date. There are no exceptions as all hotels, excursions must be prepaid to secure our spots. In the unlikely case of cancellation by the teacher or the hotel, you will receive a full refund, including your deposit.

  • Do I need a visa for travel to Thailand?

US and Canadian citizens traveling to Thailand will receive a 30-day visa upon arrival at the airport. The cost may vary based on local Government policy, but the maximum fee is 1900 THB ($55 USD). Please be sure to check with a travel agent to inform yourself of updated requirements for entry into Thailand.

  • What if I am traveling alone?

If you are traveling alone, but prefer to share your room, we will do our best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. If for some reason we are not able to match you with a roommate, a single supplement will apply to enjoy your own private room.

  • Do I need Travel Insurance?

The purchase of travel insurance is strongly recommended to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. A personal, political, environmental, or weather-related incident or pre-existing medical condition may prevent or interrupt your travels. These events are rare but do occur and underscore the importance of being covered by travel insurance. Should you elect to not purchase travel insurance, you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellations or trip interruption. There is a broad spectrum of policies and options so be sure you are clear on what exactly is covered.

  • Are meals included?

All breakfasts are included, and we will enjoy a fabulous made-to-order selection and a buffet every morning. Given all the amazing cafes and restaurants around our hotel, we do not include lunch and dinner, except for the Welcome Dinner and the Group Farewell Dinner. We have found that guests like to have options regarding where they eat. The options of places to eat are amazing and they are inexpensive, of high quality, including vegan and gluten free options, if needed. I will be happy to share some of our favorite restaurants and cafe recommendations. You will need to let us know if you have any allergies or specific food preferences (gluten free, dairy free, vegan…etc).

  • How often will we practice yoga/meditation?

We will practice various types of themed Yoga sessions daily, except for the free day, and the morning of departure for your flight back home. We encourage participants to take part in as many classes and excursions as they can but also invite each participant to take care of themselves even if that means taking a break and taking time alone. All classes are encouraged and optional. I will be teaching various types of yoga and meditation sessions as I incorporate the 4 elements (Earth, Water, Fire and Air) throughout the week. Additionally, I will introduce you to a few special guest teachers for our Gong and Tibetan bowl sessions.

  • Should I bring a yoga mat or any other props for classes?

All yoga props will be ready and waiting for you. I provide all the props needed, including yoga mats, blocks, and blankets.

  • Is there Internet access on property?

Yes. While we hope you’ll try and unplug and take some much-needed time offline, there is reliable high-speed Wi-fi access, at the hotel, at no additional cost. Wi-fi is also widely available for free at most restaurants and spas in Chiang Mai.

  • What will the weather be like in October?

October is a great time of year to enjoy comfortable weather in Chiang Mai. The average temperature in October is 30C (86F) degrees during the day and 18 C (66F) degrees in the evening. Northern Thailand is typically sunny this time of year, with relatively low humidity.

  • What can you tell me about the transportation options available in Chiang Mai?

Getting around Chiang Mai is so easy and very inexpensive. From our hotel, you are just a few minutes’ walk from shopping, restaurants, spas, coffee shops, and all the conveniences of the city. The staff at the hotel are happy to arrange drivers as needed, and it is easy to hire a Tuk-Tuk or a taxi driver from anywhere you are in the city. A few dollars will take you a long way.

  • How do I exchange money?

It is recommended to have cash (THB, Thai Baht) as some of the local shops do not accept credit cards. It’s handy to carry smaller bills for gratuities which are always appreciated. Remember to tell your bank and credit card companies the dates that you will be traveling. Using your debit card at the ATM’s is often the easiest way to get cash. ATM machines are plentiful in Thailand. Credit cards are also accepted in most restaurants. Mastercard and Visa seem to be the preferred credit cards accepted as we have noticed that many places do not accept American Express.

  • Is Thailand safe?

Yes! Thailand has earned its reputation as a very safe destination for tourists. I have travelled in Thailand for over two years, and I have yet to encounter any problems. For all international travel, it's important to be mindful of our surroundings, especially when visiting places that attract more tourists.

  • This is my first retreat, is that okay?

Absolutely! Everyone is welcome, from all levels of experience, backgrounds, and beliefs. Diversity helps make this retreat experience so special. Are you ready to explore and enjoy the experience of a lifetime? Are you ready to indulge in a well-deserved week of self-care and fun in a luxurious setting? After traveling extensively throughout South-East Asia, I can promise you that this will be an unforgettable and transformational experience. I cannot wait to share Chiang Mai's greatest gifts with you!

  • I still have some questions, can you help?

Thailand Retreat 2022

Gisele Mogan designed an adventure that aligned exactly with my deepest desire. I wished for a full immersion cultural experience, and she delivered! I have wanted to see Thailand for decades, and now I have!

It was such a special balance that I marveled at Gisele's capacity to create this uniquely remarkable retreat. She assured us that we could skip plans, but we wanted to see and do everything that she offered!

Cavorting with elephants, ceremonial lighting and releasing lanterns into the night sky at The Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai, receiving a glorious sound bath, and learning more about Buddhism by visiting a variety of temples, was just a taste of the fun!

I enjoyed the yoga and meditation offerings by Gisele very much. Each session was different, and extremely relaxing. It was remarkable that she wove them into the fabric of our stay and made it easy to embrace. The variety of experiences, food, people, shopping and legendary massages will stay with me forever.

If you are flexible, adaptable, eager to travel and have nobody in your life who wishes to explore the world, call Gisele! Or bring a buddy! Gisele is a delight to be with, and you will never regret it! Highly recommend it!

Thailand Retreat 2022

What an amazing retreat! Gisele has such a great knowledge of Thailand which helped me feel at home right away. Knowing where to shop, eat and to get massages was key to part of this great experience. In Chiang Mai, Gisele hired a fabulous local guide for our excursion to the Loy Krathong festival, making sure we tried all the food, floated our flower boats and had plenty of lanterns to release into the sky. It was breathtaking!

Then, there were the elephants! We went to a wonderful mountain sanctuary where they treat the elephants very well. They were giant, adorable animals! We were feeding them as they wrapped their trunks around us to sneak food from our baskets. We bathed them in the river as they sprayed us with water from their trunks! It was delightful!

We experienced many different types of yoga practices with Gisele, who is a master yoga teacher. We ate at fabulous restaurants, saw many beautiful temples and stayed at luxurious hotels in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. The food was great, the hotel pool is like an escape to the jungle with spectacular service.

I hope to do another retreat to Bali next year! I completely trust Gisele and Bryan to offer a well thought out, fun and amazing experience!

Join me in Thailand for an amazing cultural and spiritual experience in luxurious surroundings!

Let me share the sights, sounds and tastes of Chiang Mai with you.

I want you to feel confident, so reach out if you want to discuss one-on-one. I can't wait to experience this transformational retreat with you.
